Sooo.... Happy New Year, everyone! Hopefully you're all doing well.

I have spent the last two weeks mostly not in Lyon, and away from a computer... so I'm trying to furiously flist now and catch up on all the newsy news.

As for my holidays (thank you for asking) I spent a few days on Strasbourg (in Alsace, close to the German border... okay, basically on the Franco-German border, you can walk into Germany from there.... AND I DID) and then nearly a week in Paris.

It's such a cliché, but... Paris, je t'aime. Also, I'm not done with you yet. Free admission to the Louvre? YES PLEASE.

Well, my bags are about 90% packed, and my flight leaves in a little over 12 hours. I don't know when I'll have Internet access again, so until then... take care, everyone!

I haven't had time to flist much lately, and I'm sorry for that. On the other hand, I have been quite busy getting the new people in the lab up to speed, and worrying about my future in general :P If there's an entry you want me to read, link me, please.

But! I come soliciting advice. I know some of you have studied abroad. I know some of you travel extensively. What packing advice do you have for me?

The Prisoner of Azkaban. Tightly-written, well-plotted, and, well... I have a soft spot for Lupin.

La langue française, bien sûr, quoique les crêpes me plaisent beaucoup aussi ... surtout les crêpes au chocolat et aux noisettes ... mmm.
